Free proposera également Android avec une surcouche

Depuis le lancement d’Android, les opérateurs n’hésitent pas à modifier Android (puisqu’il est open-source), en ajoutant des surcouches ou thèmes propres à leur image. Free ne dérogera pas à la règle.

Les surcouches Android des opérateurs ne sont pas toujours appréciées par les consommateurs. Car pour recevoir la dernière version d’Android, il faut souvent attendre plusieurs mois, le temps que l’opérateur y ajoute ses applications maisons, pré-installées et qui créent parfois des incompatibilités.

Free va suivre le même chemin, non pas dans un but cosmétique mais afin d’y ajouter des options que Google ne propose pas d’origine, nous apprend ainsi le site Freenews.

Parmi ces options, on peut notamment citer EAP-SIM, un protocole permettant de s’identifier et de se connecter automatiquement à un réseau FreeWifi, sans aucune action de la part de l’utilisateur. Déjà existant sur l’iPhone d’Apple, Free va l’installer directement sur les mobiles qu’il vendra, en attendant qu’il soit nativement intégré par Google . Ou encore un système de switch qui passera du réseau Free au réseau Orange (rappelons que Free se sert du réseau Orange en attendant de mettre en route ses propres antennes)  et qui empêchera le téléphone de se connecter à d’autres réseaux à l’étranger. Très pratique pour ceux habitant aux frontières du pays.

On peut néanmoins se poser la question de savoir si ces options seront mis à disposition des freenautes ayant déjà leur téléphone. Une chose est sûre : comme d’habitude, la communauté Android ne manquera pas à l’appel !

    Sauf erreur, l’EAP-SIM est intégré en standard dans une grande majorité de téléphone Android.

    Free ne fait que sur ce point validé qu’il est fonctionnel.

    Tout au plus, celà va réduire le nombre de téléphone Android qui pourront utiliser la bascule VoIP 😉

    Par contre, la bascule conditionelle de l’itinérance des données, elle sera bien un dev custo (SIM Toolkit + IHM Android).
